Pjesnik, aktivista i istraživač iz Bijeljine Nikola Lero dobio je prestižnu Fulbrajtovu stipendiju za istraživanje na Univerzitetu Sent Luis u SAD u akademskoj 2023/2024. godini, pišu Nezavisne novine.
"Fulbrajt je jedna od najprestižnijih, ako ne i najprestižnija, internacionalna stipendija.
Ona se dodjeljuje mladim istraživačima, akademicima, i svima onima za koje vlada SAD-a smatra da će "biti nešta od njih". Uglavnom i bude. Da li će od mene, vidjećemo", navodi Lero.
On je trenutno u Sent Luisu, gdje završava svoj istraživački rad. Kao gostujući istraživač na Univerzitetu Sent Luis proučavaće imigracije u SAD pod mentorstvom profesorke Hisako Matsuo, vodećeg eksperta u oblasti ljudskih rasa i etničkih studija.
Fulbrajtova stipendija je jedna od najprestižnijih i najkonkurentnijih akademskih nagrada u svijetu, koja nudi prilike za naučnike i mlade istraživače da obavljaju istraživanja i predaju u SAD.
Lero je odrastao u Bijeljini, bio je u Osnovnoj školi "Jovan Dučić" đak generacije, te završio Gimnaziju "Filip Višnjić" kao stipendista grada Bijeljina. Godine 2010. bio je nosilac Bronzane značke grada Bijeljina za doprinos obrazovanju.
Nakon studija prava u Banjaluci on je u Norveškoj i Njemačkoj sa počastima diplomirao migracije i kulturološke odnose kao stipendista EU.
Njegova posvećenost promovisanju društvenih promjena donijela mu je priznanja i nagrade, uključujući nagradu Erazmus plus mladi novinari 2017. godine i nominaciju za najboljeg blogera za promovisanje odgovornog korišćenja društvenih mreža 2018. godine.
On služi kao Uneskov mladi šampion za mir u globalnoj inicijativi EU, nazvanoj "Društveni mediji za mir", čiji je cilj jačanje otpornosti društva na potencijalno štetan sadržaj na Internetu.
Osim toga, radio je za UNICEF u kampanjama za podršku pravima djece i promociju obrazovanja.
Njegov moto "gravirajući slova tražim istinu" odjekuje kod široke zajednice pratilaca na "Fejsbuku" i "Instagramu".
Tokom pandemije kovida 19 bio je koosnivač "Blank pejdžisa" /Blank pages/, globalnog umjetničkog kolektiva koji promoviše kreativni izraz migrantskih zajednica širom svijeta.
Nikola Lero je objavio knjigu "47 pjesama o ljubavi, bolu i Bosni", u saradnji sa nezavisnim mladim književnim kolektivom pod nazivom "Književna zadruga".
